about this book

“God created man to live in relation withthe world of things, with himself, and with hisfellow men, and to live in these relationshipsin such a way that he will … grow in his relationshipwith God,” writes Dr. Howe in thismeaningful book. He describes the true significanceof Christian fellowship and how itcan come about and exist. Living responsiblyby giving ourselves to one another—parentto child, child to parent, pastor to congregation, congregation to one another, church tothe world—only in living out the Word ofGod’s love in human relationships can weexperience the love of God.

Dr. Howe wrote this book at the request ofthe Division of Christian Education and theDivision of Evangelism of the American BaptistConvention. It grew out of a series oflectures he presented at a national conferenceon Christian education at Green Lake, Wis.,on the subject, “Growth in the Christian Fellowship.”

It is intended that this book be used instudy groups such as parent groups or parent-teachergroups. Pastors and students of thechurch will gain new insights from it. Moreover, any individual who is truly interested inthe Christian life will find that it is addressedto him.
