PREFACE

Owing to the appreciation which has beenaccorded to my three series of "Stories fromthe Operas," it has been decided to re-issuethe collection in one volume, and to includein this additional stories of new and popularoperas recently produced in England.

The plan of the work, as before, is topresent all the incidents of each libretto inthe clear, readable form of a short story; andit is hoped that the combined volume willcontinue to prove of interest, not only toopera-goers but to all lovers of dramatictales. The three volumes have been entirelyreset and re-collated in a manner which it ishoped will make them easier for reference.
