AN INTRODUCTORY NOTE.

The present is the fourth volume of the Journal of theAmerican-Irish Historical Society. This volume, likeeach of those preceding it, is complete in itself. It contains arecord of the organization since the third volume of the Journalwas issued, and presents a large amount of additionalmaterial within our line of work. The Society continues tomaintain the high standard established by its founders, and isdoing a great amount of good in its chosen field. The organizationhas already secured a place in the front rank of Americanhistorical societies, and enjoys the most cordial relationswith organizations long established.
